ABOUT Max Thomas

I am a Motion Media Virtual Reality Technical Artist. I have always had a passion for computers and technology, but I did not begin to create art until I went to college.  Being a motion media designer allows me to expand my skills beyond the screen. From animating stadium graphics for Clemson University’s Death Valley to designing racecars and custom show haulers at Richard Childress Racing, I am always in search of my next canvas. My current obsession revolves around interacting with real world objects in virtual reality.  To design virtual reality software as an indie game developer you must understand every aspect of creating, coding, and advertising your game. The toolset I have mastered as a motion design artists and my vast amount of personal research make this a possibility.  I enjoy collaborating with other amazing artists, and believe that we truly learn from working together. I lead a team in the 2017 Global Game Jam and we created an entire virtual reality game in 48 hours.  My art is technology driven and used to push the bounds of virtual reality and the way we interact with real world objects. I am currently working to track real musical instruments using Unity 5 and the HTC Vive. I believe that my research will help establish the ability for people to play and record musical instruments together in virtual reality around the world.
